Meredith Marks Issues Blunt Warning on Thread Lifts After Cosmetic Procedure Complicated Her Facelift
Meredith Marks will never get another thread lift. The 54-year-old star of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City revealed that the popular non-surgical procedure caused unexpected structural complications when she went under the knife for a full surgical facelift.
Speaking to Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea, Marks explained that the internal remnants of the minimally invasive procedure hindered rather than helped her recent cosmetic transformation.

The ‘Lunchtime Facelift’ Reality Check
Often marketed as a fast cosmetic fix, a thread lift inserts temporary sutures to produce a subtle but visible lift in the skin. According to the Cleveland Clinic, it is classified as a nonsurgical cosmetic procedure intended to lift and tighten facial skin with minimal downtime.
The treatment has gained substantial popularity across reality television circles. Marks’ RHOSLC co-star Lisa Barlow has publicly touted the treatment as a go-to alternative to Botox, paying roughly $3,500 per session.
“I have done threads in the past, and that does create some complications when you go to do the facelift. It definitely does not help.”
Despite the widespread myth that non-surgical threads serve as a harmless stepping stone to future plastic surgery, Marks found that the reality under the skin tells a completely different story.

Comparing the Recovery: Surgical Facelift vs. Non-Surgical Threads
While cosmetic clinics advertise threads as a low-pain option with zero recovery time, Marks experienced the exact opposite. Her surgical facelift proved far easier to handle than the non-invasive alternative.
“The recovery was so easy from [the facelift], and threads recovery is not. I had a splitting headache, and I didn’t feel great after the threads.”
Following her surgical facelift, Marks experienced just 48 hours of downtime. Within 12 days, she was back behind the turntables deejaying an event.
| Procedure | Meredith Marks’ Reported Outcome |
|---|---|
| Thread Lift | Severe headaches, rough recovery, and complications during future surgery |
| Surgical Facelift | 48 hours of initial downtime, returning to deejaying within 12 days |

Vetting Top Medical Credentials
Marks spent years researching the procedure before committing to surgery. She consulted numerous physicians across several American cities before choosing Beverly Hills-based plastic surgeon Dr. Garo Kassabian.
Rather than chasing social media hype, Marks prioritized formal training and verified patient results. She noted that Kassabian avoids performative promotional tactics, emphasizing high-level surgical technique over viral trends.

Pushing Back on Reality TV Appearance Critiques
Marks has maintained consistent openness about her aesthetic decisions. In previous discussions, she confirmed undergoing three breast reductions to manage a medical condition that triggered ongoing breast tissue growth.
Yet, when it comes to ongoing banter among her castmates about her recent choice to wear a wig, Marks drew a firm line. She called out the double standard, pointing out that hair enhancements are standard across reality television sets.

“They all have extensions,” Marks noted. “Almost every Housewife has extensions or a wig or whatever. Why are we literally every episode hearing about it? It’s just so weird to me.”
She emphasized that continuous appearance-based commentary says more about the critics than the recipient, reiterating that she would rather opt for full surgery than revisit quick-fix facial threads ever again.
💬 Marks proves that even the most heavily marketed aesthetic trends carry real trade-offs behind the scenes.
