Court Records Reveal Dolly Parton’s Estate Demanded Police Bodycam Footage Over Hospital Confrontation Involving Her Nephew

The Dolly Parton estate is formally demanding all police body-worn camera footage from the hospital where the country music icon spent her final hours, alleging her nephew Bryan Seaver engaged in an altercation with law enforcement on the day she died.

According to Tennessee court documents filed by She’s Alive, LLC—the corporate entity overseeing Parton’s affairs—attorneys have requested full video recordings from every officer present at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville on Aug. 24 and Aug. 25.

Parton passed away on Aug. 25 at the age of 80 following a private battle with cancer. But behind the scenes of the legendary singer’s passing, a sharp legal conflict was already escalating between her inner circle and her former head of security.

What Happened at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center?

The estate’s legal team filed motions specifically targeted at preserving and obtaining law enforcement footage. They claim the video will substantiate an alleged physical or verbal clash between Seaver and officers stationed at the Nashville medical facility.

However, Seaver’s camp presents an entirely different version of events.

Sources connected to Seaver state that he was never cited or arrested by authorities during his time at the medical center. According to their account, Seaver arrived at the hospital solely to handle the logistics of moving his late aunt’s body to a local funeral home.

Conflicting Accounts of the Hospital Incident

Those close to Seaver describe the interaction not as a fight, but as a “simple discussion.”

They maintain that law enforcement officers on the scene overreacted, treating Seaver like a “fugitive” the moment he stepped onto the premises to assist with family arrangements.

The estate claims body cameras captured an altercation, while Seaver’s camp maintains it was merely a routine discussion regarding funeral logistics.

Whether the confrontation reached the level of a criminal altercation or remained a tense disagreement remains the central question the subpoenaed bodycam footage is expected to resolve.

The Deepening Legal Feud Between the Estate and Bryan Seaver

The hospital incident is only one part of a multi-front legal battle that erupted immediately after Parton’s death.

Less than four weeks after the singer passed away, She’s Alive, LLC terminated Seaver from his longtime role as head of security. The split was neither quiet nor amicable.

Shortly after his termination, a Tennessee judge granted a temporary restraining order against Seaver and his private security business. The court order requires Seaver to remain at least 1,000 feet away from Parton’s business offices in Nashville and forbids any interference with operations.

In a separate lawsuit, the estate leveled accusations that Seaver intimidated and harassed personnel working at Parton’s Nashville hotel and museum properties.

Seaver has strongly pushed back against the claims. He stated that the text messages cited in the estate’s court filings were cherry-picked and taken entirely out of context, characterizing them as personal communications with a longtime associate concerning an ongoing business disagreement.

Party Stated Position in Court Filings
She’s Alive, LLC (Parton Estate) Alleges a hospital altercation occurred with police; claims staff were harassed; obtained a 1,000-foot restraining order.

Seaver requested a postponement of his restraining order hearing to secure legal representation, and he is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 2.

📱 As the Dec. 2 hearing approaches, the requested police video records may determine whether this dispute remains a civil estate battle or spirals into further legal trouble.
