Este Haim is officially putting the film industry on notice: she wants to reunite on camera with her sisters Danielle and Alana. Five years after their collective film debut in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Oscar-nominated feature Licorice Pizza, the musician and actress is ready for another joint role without hesitation.

The eldest of the Grammy-nominated sister trio revealed that working alongside her siblings remains a top creative ambition. Rather than waiting quietly for scripts to arrive, she is actively inviting filmmakers to bring the trio back together.

“I would die to. Who’s on the horn? 1-800-Hollywood, figure it out. I would do that in a God damn second. That’d be so much fun. We had the best time.”

That shared comfort in front of the lens stems directly from their childhood in Southern California. Long before selling out venues, the sisters were channeled into performance arts by their parents to burn off extra energy.

“We were just really rambunctious kids, and so our parents put us in theater and dance and choir just to tire us out,” Este shared. “It was almost natural that eventually one of us would venture into acting.”

The Push for Another Paul Thomas Anderson Collaboration

When asked who should steer their potential on-screen reunion, Este has one clear filmmaker at the top of her list. The sisters maintain an extensive creative history with director Paul Thomas Anderson, who helmed Licorice Pizza alongside acclaimed HAIM music videos like “Summer Girl” and “The Steps.”

“I would love to do something with Paul again. I mean, he’s the GOAT. He’s just the best. I think that anything that he would ever want us to do, we would do. I’m his biggest fan.”

While Danielle, 37, and Alana, 34, joined Este in Anderson’s 2021 feature, each sister has steadily charted independent paths through the entertainment landscape.

Solo Projects and Childhood Dreams

Outside the band, the sisters have secured varied roles across major feature films and studio productions.

Este built up comedic screen credits in projects such as Shell and One Night Only. Meanwhile, Alana took on roles in high-profile titles, including One Battle After Another and The Drama.

Este recently checked off a personal milestone by stepping into voice acting as the villainous witch Hallow’s Eve in Marvel and Disney Jr.’s animated special Spidey and the Avengers: Halloween Team-Up, currently streaming on Disney+.

The Marvel gig fulfilled a written childhood goal from over a decade ago. Este revealed that she wrote a diary entry 13 years back asking when she would finally join a Marvel project before the role materialized.

Balancing Film Sets With Studio Sessions

A widespread assumption among fans is that expanding into Hollywood sidelone music production. However, Este confirms that the band views daily songwriting as essential maintenance rather than a secondary career.

She compares writing songs to physical conditioning, emphasizing that the trio stays continuously engaged in the studio to protect their sound. Songwriting functions as both a creative requirement and emotional therapy for the group.

Creative Lane Current Focus and Output
Screen Acting Shared appearances in Licorice Pizza, with solo ventures into Marvel animation, comedy, and drama features.
Studio Music Active composition and tracking to follow up their full-length albums Women in Music Pt. III and I Quit.

It has been over a year since HAIM released their album I Quit, which arrived five years after their critically acclaimed Women in Music Pt. III. That five-year gap represented the longest pause between releases in the group’s decade-plus run.

Este notes that listeners will not have to endure another extended wait for new records. The band remains meticulous about audio fidelity and final mixes, but new music is steadily moving forward.

✨ The Haim sisters continue to carve an unconventional lane bridging rock radio and Hollywood soundstages.

📱 Between solo acting roles and steady studio writing, their collective schedule remains packed.
