Inside the Chaotic Hamptons Mansion Standoff: Police Called as Libbie Mugrabi Flees Her $5.86m Estate Amid Hostile Takeover

Police have descended upon the multimillion-dollar Hamptons estate of socialite and artist Libbie Mugrabi after a bitter standoff erupted between her remaining household staff and the property’s new legal owner, property investor Henry Ikezi.

The confrontation follows a chaotic transition of ownership that has rattled neighbouring residents in one of the most exclusive enclaves in the United States.

Although Mugrabi vacated the premises following weeks of resistance, the handover of the luxury property has descended into complete disarray.

A Court-Ordered Auction and an Escalating Feud

The turmoil began when Libbie Mugrabi was forced to relinquish the sprawling Southampton property through a court-ordered auction designed to satisfy outstanding debts and unpaid loans. Despite previously vowing that she would never lose her residence, the hammer eventually fell in September.

The winning bid came from Queens political candidate and real estate developer Henry Ikezi, who secured the estate with an offer of $5.86 million, as documented by The Post.

Rather than providing a clean break, the sale ignited a high-stakes turf war at the gates of the property.

According to sources familiar with the confrontation, Ikezi and his entourage have been actively attempting to gain physical entry to the residence. However, several members of Mugrabi’s domestic staff remain inside alongside her retained personal possessions.

A video recording obtained by Page Six captured the tense atmosphere outside the front entrance, documenting an alleged female associate of Ikezi issuing a direct warning to those within:

β€œWe’re gonna do this his way, or we’re gonna do this my way. We don’t want this my way.”

Neighbours Sound the Alarm Over Public Safety

The escalating dispute has sparked genuine alarm among adjacent homeowners, disrupting the tranquil surroundings of Bridgehampton and Southampton.

Longtime neighbour Will Kaplan, who divides his time between London and Southampton, expressed deep apprehension regarding the safety of his elderly mother living next door to the estate.

Kaplan confirmed he has received continuous, distressed telephone calls from both Mugrabi and her extended family members as the confrontation intensified.

β€œMy mom’s really terrified about this, and about the conduct to all parties,” Kaplan explained, criticising the lack of intervention. β€œLibbie’s a vulnerable individual in need of assistance and nothing is being done, and it’s spilling over into the community.”

A representative for the Southampton Town Police Department confirmed that officers responded to the residence, logging at least β€œone call for service” connected to the address during the height of the standoff.

Allegations of Intimidation and Legal Pushback

While neighbours voice fears over private security tactics and confrontation, Ikezi has strongly rejected any claims of wrongdoing or aggressive overreach.

  • Ikezi’s Legal Position: The investor vehemently denied allegations of harassing or threatening Mugrabi’s remaining staff, insisting the transfer must follow official legal channels.
  • Judicial Resolution: β€œWe’re going to adjudicate any legal matters we have in court and not in the press,” Ikezi stated in response to the growing public scrutiny.
  • Vulnerability Warnings: Neighbours claim Mugrabi has suffered severe exploitation, with Kaplan stating: β€œI really think she’s been a victim of financial abuse by multiple parties … She’s now homeless, and it’s very dangerous.”

Mugrabi declined to provide a public statement regarding the police call-out or her current living arrangements. The high-profile battle over the property at 486 Middle Line Highway now heads towards further formal adjudication.

πŸ’‘ The dramatic collapse of high-end real estate arrangements highlights the complex legal boundary between lawful property possession and civil protection orders.

πŸ” As local authorities and the courts step in to settle the disputed estate, the fallout continues to reverberate through an otherwise quiet coastal community.
