Koei Tecmo has confirmed that Attack on Titan officially returns on December 9 with the launch of Attack on Titan 3, an action-heavy release adapting the franchise’s complete storyline from start to finish.

The title debuts on PC via Steam one day ahead of its broader launch, before arriving on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 on December 10.

Pre-orders are now live across storefronts, giving players a direct route to secure early access and exclusive physical launch items ahead of the holiday season.

A Full Storyline Adaptation and Custom Survey Corps Combat

Players step directly into the boots of an original custom soldier within the Survey Corps, battling side-by-side with central figures including Levi Ackerman and Mikasa Ackerman.

Unlike previous releases that concluded amidst mid-series arcs, this release covers the entire narrative span of the anime and manga from the initial breach to the final conflict.

The franchise concluded its manga run in April 2021 and wrapped its animated broadcast finale in November 2023, leaving a substantial gap since the gaming franchise’s previous major launch.

Koei Tecmo initially revealed the project during Summer Game Fest 2026, following up with full gameplay footage in July to demonstrate expanded omni-directional mobility gear physics and tactical squad manoeuvres.

The release marks the first mainline entry in the video game series since Attack on Titan 2 launched in March 2018, eight years after the original game debuted in August 2016.

Editions, Steelbooks, and Save Data Rewards

Publishers have structured the launch with multiple editions tailored to both standard retail buyers and dedicated franchise collectors.

Launch Editions and Cross-Game Perks

  • Standard Edition: Delivers the complete base campaign, featuring the Steam pre-order perk that unlocks the game on December 9.
  • Steelbook Launch Edition: Combines physical collector packaging with an exclusive art print alongside bundled downloadable content.
  • Digital Deluxe Edition: Provides a dedicated early-access key granting play access 72 hours ahead of standard release windows.
  • Legacy Save Bonuses: Gamers holding verified save files from Attack on Titan 2 or Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle on the same platform will receive unannounced loyalty unlocks.

These transfer incentives ensure that long-standing veterans who supported previous entries receive tangible rewards right from the opening mission.

Franchise Resurgence Across Theatres and Consoles

The gaming announcement builds directly upon an active year for the broader property across North American entertainment markets.

Crunchyroll Anime Nights brought Attack on Titan: THE LAST ATTACK into cinemas across the United States and Canada on May 18, presenting the apocalyptic clash in a fully remastered 4K cinematic format.

That theatrical run re-energised interest in The Rumbling narrative arc, setting the foundation for fans to experience those exact battlefield clashes firsthand on current-generation hardware.

With hardware support extending to Nintendo Switch 2, the publisher is targeting broad accessibility across both home setups and portable handheld systems.

💡 The inclusion of full-campaign storytelling allows newcomers to experience the entire dramatic conflict without needing previous exposure to the original gaming iterations.

📌 Veteran players should verify their legacy save storage on PlayStation, Xbox, or PC platforms before launch week to ensure seamless bonus detection.
