Christina Haack Reveals How a Las Vegas Casino Run at Age 21 Completely Cleared Her College Debt
Long before launching a real estate empire on HGTV, Christina Haack wiped out her college debt in a single stroke of casino luck at just 21 years old. The 43-year-old home designer revealed that a jackpot on a “Top Dollar” slot machine paid off her entire student balance overnight.
Haack opened up about the improbable financial breakthrough in an Instagram post marking an outing in Las Vegas. Sitting in front of the machines in a zebra-print dress, she toasted the full-circle milestone with a glass of her signature brut champagne line, Clé Cachée.
The moment marked a stark contrast between a young student trying to get ahead and an established television personality celebrating decades of commercial success.
The 22-Year Las Vegas Full Circle
Household financial advice almost universally warns against looking for windfalls on a casino floor. Conventional wisdom dictates that the house always wins, making gambling one of the riskiest avenues imaginable for debt management.
Haack acknowledged that exact skepticism when recalling what her family told her before she pulled the lever.
“Really come full circle since age 21… Paid off my college debt by hitting it big on ‘top dollar’ (true story -IYKYK)… now 22 years later getting to drink my champagne while playing my fav 🎰. Priceless. 🖤 My mom always told me no one actually wins in Las Vegas. Turns out mama’s not always right 🤪🤷🏼♀️🚀,” she wrote.
While clearing student debt through casino payouts remains an extreme statistical anomaly, the payout gave Haack a rare debt-free launchpad just as she entered early adulthood.
Building an Empire: Business and Romance Align
That early stroke of good fortune eventually paved the way for serious commercial ventures. In September 2025, Haack officially launched Clé Cachée, stepping into the luxury beverage market after months of planning.
By her side throughout the venture has been Network Connex CEO Chris Larocca. The pair recently celebrated their two-year anniversary together, marking a period of personal and professional alignment.
In a public tribute to Larocca, Haack credited him with encouraging her to slow down and savor life, describing him as “a true partner in all the ways.”
“Two years of getting to know you. Together we built a champagne brand from the ground up, partnered on a flip for tv (coming soon) and traveled to amazing places,” she shared.
Teaming Up on HGTV’s The Flip Off
That personal partnership has now made its way directly to the television screen. Larocca joined Haack to participate in the production of HGTV’s competition series The Flip Off.
Filming for the show’s second season officially wrapped in October, culminating in an Instagram celebration between the couple. Larocca openly reflected on the experience in the comments section.
“Flipping a house definitely brought us closer ❤️,” Larocca noted, to which Haack replied that the entire process “would have been boring without you.”
The series features high-stakes competition between Haack and her ex-husband, Flip or Flop star Tarek El Moussa, alongside his wife Heather Rae El Moussa. During the first season, Haack had to compete solo following her split from former husband Josh Hall.
