Patrick Baghdaserians, representing 60-year-old French actor Martinez, formally asked Judge Kaufman to reopen evidentiary proceedings so he could question Halle Berry directly about an Instagram story that went live on Monday.

The contested post, which has since been removed from the platform, stated: “If kids disrespect their moms, the root cause often traces back to the relationship with the father.”

Baghdaserians argued that the quote was an unmistakable swipe aimed at his client, appearing immediately after the evidentiary phase of the hearing had ostensibly finished.

“This sort of conduct is the reason we are here today,” Baghdaserians told the bench, asserting that the public commentary was actively “disturbing my client’s peace, disturbing my client’s calm.”
